THE LONG HAIR DIARIES : VOL I – choosing the right hair extension system

THE CHOICES ARE ENDLESS…

There is no limit when it comes to creating the hair of your dreams. Whether it is adding more fullness to your hair or adding extra length, we can provide you with the best system that suits your existing hair type and lifestyle with the look you desire.
When choosing the correct hair extension system there are a number of factors you should be considering.
The number one rule is making sure the extensions are almost undetectable and natural looking as possible.

So lets go through some points to make sure you are on the path…

BASIC RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

1. PRICE POINT
Prices will vary between different hair systems and different hair qualities.
Your budget and how much you want to spend it vital. There is no point having hair extensions if you cannot keep up with regular maintenance appointments and using the right products and tools to keep your hair extensions well looked after.
It is so important to make sure you are following all maintenance care guides instructed by your hair stylist. Failure to do this can result in the hair extensions not lasting their full cycle or worst case causing damage to your own hair that is attached.

2. LIFESTYLE + TIME
Your Lifestyle and Hobbies are both an important factor in deciding what type of extensions system to choose.
Having extensions means more hair, which means you need to spend more time looking after that extra hair (washing, blowdrying and styling) and making regular visits to the salon for maintenance and push ups if required.
You have to consider what systems works with your lifestyle, and do you have the time for the regular home and in salon maintenance that comes with having extensions?
Here are a few guidelines on what we recommend and what system works for different lifestyle scenarios…

// PROFESSIONAL BUSY WORKING LADY
Long hours at work, busy schedule, office and client meetings, conservative role.
Low Maintenance as time is an issue
Recommended systems : 1-2 x ROW WEFT HAIR EXTENSIONS  OR CLIP IN EXTENSIONS
for easy maintenance, invisibility, less damage, easy to care for at home and in salon appointments

// REGULAR EXERCISER : GYM , CLASSES, SWIMS
Hair is up usually, sweaty, swimming, in the sun, heat.
Easy to look after and well hidden.
Recommended systems : WEFT EXTENSIONS + CLIP INS EXTENSIONS
Easy to hide when you hair is up, invisibility on sides and underneath, less damage.
Easy to care at home for the wefts or/ have the option of not having having extra hair when exercising with clip ins.

// MERMAID GIRL

Low Maintenance, not over fused with hair and beauty routines but wants to look good.
Natural babe, natural hair texture, natural products.
Wants the lush mermaid long hair.
Recommended Systems : AMORE BEADS (number of beads depending on hair density)
Individual strands make it easy to hide, natural wave blending in with natural hair texture.

Spending time on home maintenance is essential for the extensions to look good and last longer.

3. YOUR HAIR TYPE
Your natural hair type and what you desire is a big factor when choosing the right hair system. The most important thing you need to consider is you want the hair extensions to be as natural as possible and cause limited to no damage to your hair. Below are standard hair types and what we would recommend…

// FINE FRAGILE HAIR
Fine hair texture and density.
Fragile from colouring, high risk of breakage.
Recommend : Either not having extensions, Clip Ins for a temporary option, minimal Micro Beads and Tapes.
Causing less damage and can be easier to hide with finer hair types

// SHORTER BOB HAIR
Wanting longer length.
Has a Cropped Bob, Blunt Cut
Recommend : Full Head of Wefts, or a Full Head of Tapes.
Creates maximum length and volume to hide the blunt shorter hair style.

// FINE TO MEDIUM HAIR LENGTH + THICKNESS
Wanting extra voume, fullness and length
Recommend : 1-2 Rows of Weft Extensions, or 1/2 Pack of Tapes
Creates a natural fullness and length without overloading your head with too much hair.

// COLOUR CHANGE WITH VOLUME
Wanting to go lighter or more variation in their current colour, but dont want to dry and damage their natural hair.

Wanting fuller style, a little bit of length. A bit of a change.
Recommend : 1-2 Rows of Weft Extensions in 2 different harmonious colours, or 1/2 Pack of Tapes in various colours.
Creates a natural colour blend without damaging the hair through colouring. They can swap the hair out whenever they are wanting a slight colour change.
